Insurance:

ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH, LIFE AND LTD INSURANCE:

On the first day following one full month (30 days) of service, full-time employees are eligible for County health, life and LTD insurance.   The health insurance, which includes medical, dental, orthodontia, vision, & prescription coverage is currently provided through the self-funded Deschutes County Employee Health Plan.  Coverage includes spouse and eligible dependents at a cost of $35 per month (pre-taxed) to the employee.

Regular, part-time employees who work a minimum of 20 hours per week (.50 FTE) are eligible to receive insurance coverage, at their option, on a pro-rated cost basis, or to use a higher-deductible plan option for the same employee premium cost as a full-time employee.  An example for the lower deductible, pro-rated plan, an employee who works a 30-hour work week (.75 FTE) would pay the $35 per month premium co-pay plus 25% of the remaining premium total (pre-taxed), and the County would pay 75%.

See   Health Insurance Plan Summary for further information on Deschutes County Employee Health Plan coverage.

LIFE INSURANCE/ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT:

Life insurance is equal to the employee’s annual salary, rounded up to the next thousand-dollar amount not to exceed $100,000.  If death is accidental, insurance amount will be doubled with a maximum of $200,000.

Spouse and dependent coverage is $5,000.  (Accidental death double coverage does not apply to spouse or dependents).

LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE:

LTD coverage begins the first of the month following completion of one full month (30 days) of employment.

The policy commences 90 days after the disability occurs, and provides 66 2/3 % of monthly salary, with a maximum benefit of $3,333 per month to age 65.

NOTE: Fringe benefits may vary from those listed above subject to employment status and the various collective bargaining unit agreements.
