County Auctions 78 South County Lots on March 30
On March 30, Deschutes County will conduct an oral auction to sell mostly half-acre and one-acre lots located in the La Pine area. The event will take place at the Deschutes Services Center, Board of County Commissioner’s Hearing Room, 1300 NW Wall Street, in Bend at 10:00am.
It is intended that the sale of County lots in La Pine will aid in the reduction of South County fire fuels. Without proper resources, Deschutes County cannot maintain fire fuels on the lots. Prior to the transfer of each lot title, successful bidders must sign an agreement to reduce the wildland fuels to meet Deschutes County standards.
“After a six year land auction hiatus, we welcome all citizens to participate in this land auction. We are planning one more auctions in 2006, probably in September,” said Teresa Rozic, Deschutes County Property Specialist.
Interested buyers must register before 10:00am on the day of the auction and provide an acceptable picture I.D. Properties will be sold to the highest and best bidder for cash, but not less than the minimum bid fixed by the Board of County Commissioners. Each lot is eligible for the Transferable Development Credit Program and every lot will be sold subject to the buyer accepting title with a covenant that restricts development. Septic systems CANNOT be placed on these lots. To read more about the Transferable Development Credit Program click on the Transferable Development Credit Program link. Money from the sales of these lots will be deposited to Deschutes County taxing districts, and for a variety of public services.
